Product Description for Billboard Poster Printing | Large Outdoor Posters

Billboard poster printing is designed for large-format outdoor advertising where messages need to be seen clearly from greater distances than standard indoor posters. Formats such as 4-sheet posters are widely used in street-level display sites and public advertising frames.

Artwork should use large type, strong contrast, a short headline and a simple call to action. Because viewers may see the poster while moving, dense copy and fine detail are usually less effective than a clear, high-impact layout.

Use billboard posters for retail campaigns, entertainment, events, property, public information and local advertising. Large-format files may be supplied at reduced scale where permitted, but images still need sufficient effective resolution at the final printed size.

  • 96 and 48 sheet billboard posters are supplied at 25% scale.
  • 4 and 6 sheet billboard posters are supplied 1:1 scale.
  • Artwork to be supplied as a print-ready PDF
  • 300 dpi resolution
  • All fonts embedded or outlined
  • Full design on one page (do not split artwork up into panels)
  • 10mm safezone

Technical specifications – billboard poster printing

Formats: Billboard poster artwork requirements vary by sheet format. Current production includes 4-sheet and 6-sheet formats plus larger 48-sheet and 96-sheet billboard systems.

Artwork scale: Supply 4-sheet and 6-sheet posters at 1:1 scale. Supply 48-sheet and 96-sheet artwork at 25% scale. Always use the exact template for the ordered billboard format.

File: Supply the entire design on one print-ready PDF page – do not divide the artwork into individual physical installation panels. Fonts must be outlined or embedded and artwork should be CMYK.

Resolution: Current production guidance specifies 300dpi at the required artwork scale. Check effective image resolution after any scaling and retain logos/type as vectors where possible.

Safe area: Maintain at least a 10mm safe zone within the supplied template. Increase clearance for small legal copy and important logos because billboard finishing/installation can cover or trim peripheral areas.

Design for distance: Use short headlines, very large type and high contrast. Billboard viewers see the graphic from substantially further away than a conventional poster; detail that looks readable on a monitor may be ineffective on site.

Installation note: Large billboard graphics are produced for use in dedicated display systems. Final durability and appearance depend on the poster substrate, site hardware, installation method and exposure – not the printed artwork alone.
