Product Description for A-Frame Signs | Custom Pavement Advertising Boards

A-frame signs are freestanding pavement displays designed to attract passing foot traffic outside shops, cafés, events and hospitality venues. Their two-sided A-shaped construction provides visibility from both directions while keeping the display self-supporting.

Depending on the selected system, graphics may be printed directly or supplied as replaceable panels or posters, allowing campaigns to be updated without replacing the entire frame. Exterior suitability depends on the model, surface and weather conditions.

Use short headlines, large type and strong contrast because pavement signage is often viewed while people are moving. Outdoor signs should be removed or secured when conditions are unsafe.

  • Please allow a Safe Zone of at least 10mm (ideally 25 mm) as these areas will be obscured by the frame clips.
  • Please supply as a CMYK PDF, ideally in PDF/X1a format
  • Scale of 1:1
  • 150dpi resolution
  • You can download the templates by clicking “Artwork Templates”.

Technical specifications – A-frame signs

Hardware: Freestanding, double-sided front-loading snap-frame display with galvanised steel backing and an anti-glare protective sheet. Current frame sizes include A1 (594 x 841mm) and A2 (420 x 594mm).

Graphic: Current poster option uses approximately 410gsm PVC, providing a more weather-resistant display insert than ordinary paper. Frame-only and poster-only configurations may also be available.

Artwork: Supply at 1:1 scale as a CMYK PDF, preferably PDF/X-1a, with raster images at approximately 150dpi. Maintain at least a 10mm safe zone and ideally around 25mm because the snap-frame clips and protective cover obscure the outer edge of the graphic.

Display weights: Current hardware is approximately 6.9kg for A1 and 3.8kg for A2. These values describe the frame mass, not a guaranteed wind rating.

Design: Use large, high-contrast messages suited to pavement viewing. Keep QR codes and small copy well inside the visible aperture rather than merely inside the poster trim.

Outdoor use: Suitable for appropriate indoor/outdoor locations, but freestanding A-frames can become unstable in strong wind. Position on a level surface and remove or secure the unit when weather conditions are unsafe.

Changing graphics: Open the snap frame, replace the poster beneath the anti-glare sheet and ensure all edges are fully secured before returning the sign to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

A-Frame Signs | Custom Pavement Advertising Boards FAQs

An A-frame sign is a freestanding pavement display with two faces arranged in an A-shaped structure, designed for visible messaging outside or near a business entrance.

They are popular for cafés, retail shops, events, estate agents, hospitality venues and directional signage where messages need to attract passing foot traffic.

Replaceability depends on the specific hardware and graphic system. Many A-frame designs allow printed panels or posters to be changed when promotions are updated.

They are designed for suitable exterior locations, but stability depends on weather, surface and model. Signs should be removed or secured when conditions are unsafe.

Artwork must match the visible graphic area of the selected frame, such as an A1-format display. Use the exact product template to avoid trimming issues.

Use short headlines, large type, high contrast and a simple call to action because people often view A-frame signage while walking past.
