Product Description for Foil Flyers & Leaflets | Metallic Foil Printing

Foil flyers and leaflets combine full-colour print with selected metallic foil areas to create contrast that cannot be reproduced with CMYK ink alone. Foil is effective for logos, names, borders, short headlines and decorative details on invitations, property marketing, hospitality promotions and premium campaigns.

The metallic finish is applied as a separate production layer, so artwork requires a dedicated foil mask in addition to the conventional colour pages. Fine details, tight registration and foil close to trim or folds should be avoided.

Use foil selectively. A controlled highlight generally creates a stronger premium effect than covering large areas, while also keeping small text and detailed photography clear.

Supply print-ready artwork as a high-resolution PDF at 300dpi in CMYK (FOGRA39 where a profile is required). Embed all fonts or convert text to outlines/curves. Add 3mm bleed on every trimmed edge and extend backgrounds and images fully into the bleed. Keep important text, logos, QR codes and other critical content at least 3mm inside the finished trim. Crop marks are not required when the PDF is supplied at the correct trim size with bleed.

For foil, supply conventional CMYK print pages followed by separate effect-mask pages as required by the product template. Build the mask as solid black vector artwork, keep all effect areas completely inside the 3mm safe area, and do not run foil across folds or perforations because the finish can crack or flake. Keep the CMYK artwork and mask geometry aligned exactly.

Printing: Full-colour commercial print; single- or double-sided configurations vary by selected option.

Colour behaviour: Coated stocks give greater surface contrast; uncoated stocks absorb more ink and can appear softer. Specialist effects such as foil or Spot UV are physical finishing layers and require dedicated mask artwork.
