Product Description for Outdoor Poster Printing | Weather-Resistant Posters

Outdoor poster printing is designed for promotions, events, notices and advertising displayed in environments where ordinary indoor paper may be exposed to moisture or changing conditions. The material offers greater resistance than standard poster paper while retaining a flexible printed format.

Use outdoor posters for temporary advertising, event information, retail promotions, notice boards and campaign displays. Artwork should favour bold typography, strong contrast and simple messages that remain legible from the expected viewing distance.

Durability depends on the exact material, mounting method and exposure. For harsher conditions or longer-term use, consider waterproof PVC, rigid board or banner material. Supply print-ready CMYK artwork with appropriate bleed and image resolution.

  • Please allow a safe zone of at least 10mm. If the finished product is to sit within a frame, then please allow for larger safe zone for the size of the frame.
  • To avoid disappointment, we recommend a minimum font size of 18pt and a line weight of 2pt for this product. Please have a look at our Help Centre article for more details.

Technical specifications – outdoor poster printing

Application: Poster material selected for outdoor or more demanding display conditions than standard indoor paper. The exact substrate should be chosen according to the location, duration and degree of weather exposure.

Printing: Full-colour CMYK large-format print.

Artwork scale and resolution: Supply at 1:1 scale with 150dpi raster resolution at final size. Include 3mm bleed and a minimum 10mm safe zone; increase clearance where frames or fixing systems cover the edges.

File: Print-ready CMYK PDF with all fonts outlined or embedded. A minimum font size of around 18pt and line weight of around 2pt is recommended for reliable large-format reproduction and practical viewing.

Design: Use strong contrast and typography sized for distance viewing. Keep QR codes, contact details and legal text large enough to scan/read in the real installation environment.

Weather note: ‘Outdoor’ does not mean every paper-based poster is indefinitely waterproof. Durability depends on substrate, exposure, mounting and weather. For direct rain, frequent wetting or longer-term installations, specify a fully waterproof synthetic/PVC product or rigid sign material.

Installation: The display system must protect/support the poster appropriately. Wind loading and hardware suitability are installation considerations rather than properties of the printed sheet alone.
