Technical specifications – beer mat printing

Material: Approximately 500gsm absorbent cardboard with a finished thickness around 1.2mm, designed for use beneath drinks in hospitality environments.

Shapes: Current options include circular and rounded-corner square formats. Use the exact template for the selected shape and finished dimensions.

Printing: Full-colour CMYK on one or both sides. Because front and reverse printing are registered in separate production stages, the reverse can show slight positional movement relative to the front.

Artwork: Supply a CMYK PDF at 300dpi with fonts outlined or embedded, 3mm bleed and at least a 5mm safe zone. Use type of approximately 15pt or larger and lines/text elements of around 2pt or heavier where possible.

Registration-critical artwork: Place borders or other elements that need the best positional accuracy on page 1 of the PDF. Avoid matching hard borders on both sides because the reverse may appear slightly off-centre within normal registration tolerance.

Absorbency: Beer-mat board is deliberately absorbent. Dense ink coverage and edge-to-edge colour change the look of the surface but do not turn the board into a waterproof coaster.

Design: Keep QR codes, small terms and sponsor logos well inside the cut edge and large enough to remain readable after handling and exposure to condensation.
