Product Description for Uncoated Business Cards | Writable Natural Finish

Uncoated business cards provide a natural, writable alternative to silk or laminated card. The surface accepts handwriting and stamps more readily, which makes these cards practical for loyalty schemes, appointment reminders and personalised notes as well as standard networking.

Available stocks include smooth uncoated paper, brown Kraft, natural textured papers and recycled options. Each material has a different colour and surface character, with softer colour reproduction than coated papers because the ink is absorbed into the stock.

Uncoated cards work particularly well for cafés, salons, independent retailers, creative businesses and professional brands that want a tactile, understated finish. Selected specifications can also include rounded corners. Choose the stock according to whether writing performance, texture, recycled content or visual character is the priority.

Technical specifications – uncoated business cards

Finished size: Standard 85 × 55mm, with selected format and corner options depending on the stock. Add 3mm bleed and keep important content at least 3mm inside the trim.

Paper range: Options include brown Kraft, 300gsm natural uncoated, 300gsm textured uncoated, 350gsm recycled uncoated and 300gsm smooth white uncoated stock.

Surface: Uncoated cards remain absorbent and are generally suitable for handwriting, stamping and appointment/loyalty-card use. Texture and paper shade vary significantly between the available materials.

Printing: Full-colour CMYK. Supply artwork as a 300dpi CMYK PDF with all fonts outlined or embedded.

Colour behaviour: Because there is no coating, ink is absorbed into the fibres and colours usually reproduce with less sheen and lower saturation than on silk or gloss. Kraft additionally changes colour values because of its brown base. Textured papers can soften fine detail.

Design: Use clear typography, strong contrast and adequate line weights. Avoid expecting identical CMYK colour across different uncoated stocks.

Production note: If the card needs to be written or stamped after printing, do not add lamination over the writing area. Test specialist pens or stamp inks where permanence is critical.
