Product Description for Heavyweight Booklet Printing | Premium Thick Paper

Heavyweight booklet printing uses thicker paper or card than a conventional brochure, giving the finished publication a more substantial tactile feel. The heavier construction is especially effective when the piece is short, image-led and intended to feel premium in the hand.

These booklets suit lower to moderate page counts because thicker paper increases overall bulk quickly. Depending on the specification, heavier covers and selected laminated finishes can be used to add protection and further change the feel of the finished piece.

Heavyweight booklets are ideal for premium brochures, short portfolios, menus, lookbooks, invitations and presentation material where paper quality is a significant part of the brand experience. For much longer publications, perfect binding with lighter inner stock may be more practical.

Technical specifications – heavyweight booklet printing

Construction: A booklet produced using substantially heavier paper/card than a conventional brochure, creating greater rigidity and bulk. Binding and maximum page count depend on the selected format and stock combination.

Material behaviour: Heavy stocks increase stiffness and perceived quality but also increase fold stress. Designs with dense ink coverage across folds may require appropriate creasing/finishing to reduce visible cracking.

Artwork: Supply a 300dpi CMYK PDF with fonts embedded or outlined and 3mm bleed on all trimmed edges. Keep important content within the safe area and avoid placing small type directly on a fold or binding line.

Page planning: Because paper thickness accumulates quickly, heavyweight booklets are generally suited to lower or moderate page counts. Use the current product selector to confirm available stock, page extent and binding before finalising pagination.

Colour and finishing: Coated stocks reproduce stronger colour and photography; uncoated stocks give a more tactile, softer result. Selected cover/stock combinations may support lamination.

Production note: Do not calculate final bulk using gsm alone—gsm is paper weight per square metre, not thickness. Actual caliper varies by paper type. If finished thickness, mailing weight or fit inside packaging is critical, request/confirm the exact specification before production.

Frequently Asked Questions

Heavyweight Booklet Printing | Premium Thick Paper FAQs

A heavyweight booklet uses thicker paper or card than a conventional brochure, giving the finished publication a more substantial and premium feel.

They are well suited to premium brochures, short portfolios, menus, lookbooks, invitations and presentation pieces where tactile quality matters as much as page count.

The binding method depends on the selected product specification, but heavyweight booklet construction is designed to accommodate thicker stocks while maintaining a clean finished edge and usable opening.

Thicker stocks increase rigidity, improve perceived quality and can make image-led or design-led publications feel more substantial than standard lightweight brochure paper.

Suitable cover stocks can be laminated where offered, adding surface protection and allowing matt, gloss or soft-touch effects to complement the heavier construction.

They are generally better suited to lower or moderate page counts because thick paper rapidly increases overall bulk. For longer publications, perfect binding on lighter text stock may be more practical.
